One of the concepts related to this idea that heaven is available to us here on earth is that “all is in divine order”. That is a tough one when so much of what is going on seems like chaos and confusion. Yet when we look to the skies and see the miraculous forces of nature that occur to create galaxies and individual stars and then we look to the evolution of our solar system and the multitude of life forms on this planet, we begin to believe that there is some divine order going on beyond what seems like chaos to us. For me, personally, life occasionally seems to organize in a way to remind me that, yes, all is in divine order.
Frequently, I read an inspirational publication called the Daily Word. We use it as part of our service at my church. Each day is assigned a word or phrase, a related bible verse, and an inspirational message around the theme. It often reminds me about divine order either metaphorically or explicitly. The other day it was both.
One of my volunteer roles in the church is to read the Daily Word message during the service on the day I am serving as prayer chaplain. I usually read it ahead of time so that I can feel prepared when I read it to the congregation. On this particular Sunday I forgot, so I just trusted that the words flow out of my mouth easily and without any stumbling or stuttering. As I listened to the preparatory music, I began thinking of how blessed I am and how I feel God is working through me to bring through beautiful messages of hope and inspiration. I felt guided to surrender more fully to the messages from the divine in my writing and other work because I know that when I do, the words flow beautifully and effortlessly. I silently reminded myself that when I let the Divine flow through me, I am able to radiate out love into the world and bless those close and far.
When it was time for me to read the message for the day, I went up to the front, centered myself, and smiled as I read the phrase for the day – “Divine Order”. The message reminded us that “[d]ivine order is always at work. It is the eternal and exquisite process by which all things come into existence.” Then at the end, I thought the message was talking to me directly – “I surrender to divine order by aligning myself with Spirit. Through a regular practice of prayer and meditation, I intentionally open my life as a channel through which God’s order, love, and light radiate into the world.” It was so in alignment with what I had just been thinking. I felt it showed me directly that my life was in divine order while at the same time reminding me that it is always at work even when life seems more chaotic.
When we open ourselves to the divine flow of inspiration and we allow ourselves to consider the possibility that there is an order to our creation that is beyond our comprehension, we open the door to experiencing a taste of heaven right where we are and no matter the circumstances. Each of these experiences then helps us build a foundation from which we can live our lives more filled with love and more free to radiate that love into the world to help those who have never known this to be true.
I am grateful that Spirit works through me in this way, so that I can feel so blessed and pass that blessing on to others. What a wonderful way to start this day.
Ashe and so it is.
