In Life As a Practical Mystic

Bringing Joy into 2012 as a Key to Experiencing the Shift

We are here.  It is 2012.  Who is not wondering what it is has in store for us as individuals and as a planet?  We can expect change.  After all, life depends on change for its existence.  Can we count on only the changes we desire?  Probably not.  The changes we think we do not like are usually the ones we need most – the ones that change us at depth.  And if we do not change at depth, we do not evolve.

I spent most of 2010 and 2011 inquiring into the change predicted for 2012.  I explored the myths and prophecies through a variety of writings by experts.  My favorite expert is Christine Page who wrote 2012 and the Galactic Center: The Return of the Great Mother and The Mystery of 2012:  Predictions, Prophecies, and Possibilities.  Two other experts who have great credibility are John Major Jenkins, author of  The 2012 Story: The Myths, Fallacies, and Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History and Carl Johan Calleman, author of Solving the Greatest Mystery of our Time: The Mayan Calendar.  Each one of these authors brings forward an enlightened interpretation of the information from the Mayan Calendar.  And yet the truth is that all that the Mayans know and all that the experts know is that there is expected to be a shift.  In fact the shift has already started.  Have you not been experiencing it already?

What the experts cannot help us with is how to respond to the changes that the shift brings upon us.  Fear is usually our first response.  It is a survival response hard wired into our bodies.  However, our Creator also gave us choice.  We do not have to stay with fear.  We can choose something else.

Choosing something different when we are in a fear state can often be easier said than done.  I know that is true for me.  Despite all of the transformational work I have done on myself, I still find myself stuck in a fear state that is hard to move out of, particularly around money.  What has worked best for me recently is to find my way to joy.  I start with trying to smile even if I have to fake it.  Sometimes I need to resort to few half-hearted guffaws or a little laughter yoga with full-bodied laughs as I breathe.  My friends are great at helping me look at how silly I am being with the way I have jacked up my fear state.  Nothing is better than a good laugh with friends.

Whatever it takes, I know that once I get those joy bubbles working inside, the fear state shifts. I start to see a glimmer of hope.  I can begin to feel trust again that with the help of Spirit I will be okay.  I allow myself to open to the faith I know I have somewhere deep inside.  I once again feel the light and love of God that is always there even if obscured by the darkness brought on by fear.

So I encourage you if fears creep up for you during any of the changes brought on by this Shift of the Ages, find a way to bring in joy.  Fake a smile.  Try a laugh. Call a friend and ask for help to make the shift to something lighter and brighter.  Soon you will be resting fully in the light and love of God and you will remember that all is well.  And that’s the truth.

Ashe and so it is.  Amen.
